A limited number of “stand alone” abstracts that are not related to courses and symposia will be chosen for oral presentation (15 minutes) during the opening General Session on Thursday, July 6. These should be late-breaking or high impact research studies that are of significance to the field. Submissions will be subject to a double-blind review by the Scientific Organizing Committee and selected for programming based upon merit and potential thematic interest to congress attendees.
Abstracts that represent either research-oriented work or case review may be submitted for poster presentation consideration. Submissions will be subject to a double-blind review by the Poster Committee and selected for programming based upon merit and potential thematic interest to congress attendees. Up to 150 posters will be accepted for live presentation with the remainder to be included on the program and meeting app. Formal poster presentation time will be scheduled on two days of the congress for live presentation authors to be available to discuss their work with other attendees.
The "Cases of the Year" category includes cases with a known diagnosis, diseases that have proven difficult to diagnose, or cases presenting management challenges. These cases should have attendant teaching value. A maximum of 24 cases will be selected for short 4 minute presentations (8 presented each day of the Congress in General Session). In order to be considered for presentation, cases must include photographs.
Congress organizers are offering 15 Travel Awards of $1,000 USD plus free meeting registration for residents, fellows, young graduate dermatologists from Developing Countries. Additionally, there will be five (5) Travel Awards available for SPD member fellows, residents or medical students who present posters or cases at WCPD 2017 (also at $1,000 USD each). The AAP Section on Dermatology will offer one $1,000 Travel Award, open to residents or fellows who present cases or posters at the WCPD 2017. Preference will be given to abstracts that focus on pediatric dermatology education, workforce, Medical Home and collaborating with pediatrician partners.
Eligible attendees may apply when submitting a poster or case abstract and the deadline is January 9, 2017. Travel Award recipients will be announced by March 15, 2017.
